Sending large emails - What to do?

We run into this issue with our clients all the time. Have to send out a large power point, a large email agreement or the best, "I have to send a email with 40 photos from last nights birthday bash. I just have to get it out today" all saved bigger than 2mb each. Not going to happen.

Every company has different policies on how large a user can send emails out(and receive)

We recommend no bigger than 2-5mb at maximum size. If you make it a policy to allow users to send emails out in this range, your bandwidth will choke. The torches will be lit and phone calls will be initiated on "why is our internet so slow?" and everyone will be in an uproar. Granted, one client has had a horrible time with their provider, and it's a bonded T that was killing them. That is the 2- 600lb gorilla's vendors banging their chest no taking any responsibility. That will be another post.

Getting back- Aside from proper internet best practices, users and clients still need to send out large emails. If you have a large connection, AND it won't affect other users, then you might be allowed by upper management to have those thresholds. It still becomes an issue because the larger the emails you send, those go into a queue in your Email server. When you clog that up with large email sending requests, you gotta wait.
Youtube, Hulu and music downloading/abuse will be another post.

There are 2 really good services that all you to send up to 2 gb(gigabyte not megabyte) of emails per email. You need to send that powerpoint that's 20 mb, that homevideo off your cell phone, contracts, these work great. They both allow you to send from YOUR email address but, it won't clog up your email system.

Check them out and play with them. Both allow for free accounts.

FILE 747 - free 30 mb sending account. Good for most users.

Http:// - send up to 100mb files. More limited on options, but on of the cool things about ysi is you have add-on's to your OUTLOOK, Powerpoint applications. You can send them right from thost apps.

Chocking bandwidth = bad
Using proactive tools that don't freak rest of company out=good

Back in action. Been busy the last 2 years, but were backkkkkk.

So, still busy but now we are realizing that we have alot more responsibility to our base.
Why not share with them whats on our mind?

Next couple of months:
Going to deploy our newest partner, A very strong and detailed ticket system.
This is going to allow our Clients to get information quicker and issues resolved faster. Additionally, it will track my and TVG tech's time better, to make sure projects are on time and everything is accountable.

New hire coming. We are on the hunt for a new HelpDesk technician to add to our team and improve our processes and access.
